Staffordshire- born artist Ben Riley began to paint as soon as he was old enough to pick up a pencil. His enthusiasm for art was unfortunately not matched by his art teacher at school, who told him that he would never sell a painting. This discouragement only made Riley all the more determined to succeed, providing him with the perfect incentive to make his name as a professional artist.
Despite an offer from the prestigious Central St Martins School of Art, Riley declined to study at university, instead opting to focus his attentions on self- initiated experimentation. He quickly developed his own unique style, realizing his dream of becoming a full time artist in 2002.
Riley's ability to capture the mood and personality of his iconic subjects is truly unrivaled, especially when you consider that he uses only record fragments in the creation of his portraits. No pigment whatsoever is applied to the canvas; even the finest details having been shaped from ground record dust.
Riley has quickly established himself as one of the most unique and innovative artists on todays scene, with many celebrity admirers recognizing his exceptional talent; Robbie Williams, T- Rex drummer Bill legend and England footballer Glen Johnson are all known collectors of his work. With future exhibitions scheduled across the states, Riley is without a doubt one of the most promising artists in his field and looks to continue taking the art world by storm over the coming years.
